Helping Bacardi Blend Tradition with Technology to Engage Bartenders and Consumers
A mobile app connecting bartenders and consumers through curated cocktail recommendations, using mood, event, and season data to craft personalized drink experiences.
1. Discover
Working closely with Bacardi stakeholders, we researched how both consumers and professional bartenders interact with cocktail culture. Through discovery workshops, interviews, and market research, we identified the opportunity to strengthen Bacardi’s digital engagement strategy.
2. Define
We defined the Mix Lab MVP: a mobile application designed to foster bartender collaboration while providing consumers with a sophisticated cocktail recommendation engine. The roadmap prioritized launching quickly to validate assumptions while leaving room for future iterations.
3. Design
In collaboration with SlideUX, our team designed both the UX/UI and the technical architecture of the Mix Lab app. We prototyped user flows that emphasized simplicity for end consumers and creative freedom for bartenders, ensuring the design was intuitive and engaging.
4. Develop
We developed the mobile app using React Native and integrated a custom recommendation engine. Our development process focused on building a scalable, performant MVP that could be deployed across devices while remaining aligned with Bacardi’s brand standards.
5. Delight
Following launch, we gathered user feedback and analytics to refine features. The Mix Lab app delighted both bartenders and consumers, validating Bacardi’s strategy and informing the next wave of digital engagement initiatives.

SeeSaw Labs’ work exceeded all of my expectations. They’ve helped us think differently about what it means to define a product, to know what problems to solve, and to understand what a customer needs. When we get into actual development, the success metrics will be around time and budget. In terms of general project evaluation, SeeSaw Labs hit all of their milestones and deliverables on time and with high quality — that in and of itself is great.
We don’t have an internal product team, and SeeSaw has been able to think and innovate for something that started as imaginary. Their ability to put this imagination into a process and create a reality that can be touched has been amazing. Rather than taking orders, they suggest the best options from their perspective to ensure that the output adds value. Other companies do what we want and then come back and say it didn’t work. SeeSaw gives us advice that we choose to accept or set aside.
