ATRS: Powering Smarter Recycling with Route Optimization and Real-Time Data Insights

Our Approach
1. Discover
We collaborated with ATRS business stakeholders and SME employees to understand driver workflows and management challenges. Through discovery, we uncovered inefficiencies in route optimization and lack of real-time reporting for administrators.
2. Define
We defined the dual-application approach: a driver-facing Android tablet app for routing and data capture, and an admin-facing dashboard for managers to monitor operations. This roadmap addressed both frontline and back-office challenges.
3. Design
Our design emphasized simplicity for drivers in the field, ensuring large touch targets and offline resilience. The dashboard was designed with clear data visualization, enabling quick insights for administrators.
4. Develop
We developed the mobile and web applications with robust data capture, synchronization, and reporting capabilities. Both were engineered to handle scale across thousands of routes and donation bins.
5. Delight
The launch provided drivers with a streamlined toolset while empowering managers with actionable data. The real-time visibility delighted leadership and became a foundation for forecasting and strategic decision-making.
